Dennis L. Wallette holds a B.S. in Zoology from Southeastern Louisiana University and an M.S. in Medical Entomology from Louisiana State University. He began his career in mosquito control when he was hired as a Biologist at the East Baton Rouge Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control District in 1990. In 2003, he was named as the Director of the newly created Tangipahoa Mosquito Abatement District until his retirement in March 2024.
Dennis is also a past board member and president (2005) of the Louisiana Mosquito Control Association and served on the board as secretary/treasurer for over 10 years. Additionally, he has served on the LMCA finance committee for many years. He is a Past President (2022-2023) of the American Mosquito Control Association and additionally sat on its Board of Directors.
He has served as President of Southeastern’s Lion Athletic Association and is a member and Past President (2018) of the Hammond-Ponchatoula Sunrisers Rotary Club. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association and is a 2009 graduate of Leadership Tangipahoa.
Dennis has devoted many years of time and expertise to the cause of mosquito control not only in his own district, but at the state and national levels as well. We are indebted to his efforts and appreciate all he has done. We all hope you enjoy an exciting new adventure in retirement!
