The Hathaway-Ritter award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the cause of mosquito control in Louisiana. Chuck Palmisano was presented this award at the 2011 LMCA annual meeting banquet.
Chuck Palmisano received a B.S. degree in Entomology and a M.S. degree in Medical Entomology from LSU in 1976. Chuck worked as an Entomologist with the Calcasieu Parish Mosquito Control and then was hired as Director of the St. Tammany Parish Mosquito Abatement District in December 1976.
He served on the LMCA Board of Directors from 1977-2008, was President in 1982 and chaired or served on numerous committees throughout his tenure on the Board. Chuck served as Secretary/Treasurer from 1999-2008.
He served as AMCA South Central Regional Director from 1987-1991 and was AMCA Secretary/Treasurer from 1994-2000. He also served as chair of the AMCA Finance Committee for several years and was a member of the AMCA U. S. Fish and Wildlife committee for several years.
Chuck retired from the St. Tammany Parish Mosquito Abatement District in August 2016.
